Huw & Luned Aaron

A big thank you to Huw and Luned Aaron for supporting our event with their fantastic cards, which will be on sale in the home and garden emporium.

Huw Aaron is a freelance cartoonist and illustrator as seen in Private Eye, Prospect, Reader's Digest, The Oldie, Saga Magazine and others. North Stand, Huw’s rugby comic strip, is published in several newspapers internationally.

Luned is an artist based in Cardiff. She exhibits at various galleries, including Off the Wall gallery, The Frame Gallery, Oriel Awst, Chapter Arts Centre, The Gate Arts Centre and Tonnau gallery.

Currently over 500 children from all over Wales miss out on hydrotherapy treatment each year. The Noah's Ark Appeal's Splish Splash Splosh campagin is aiming to raise the £500,000 needed to build a hydrotherapy pool at the Children's Hospital for Wales.

Hydrotherapy is a form of physiotherapy carried out in a heated purpose-built pool and helps patients with numerous conditions to strengthen joints and muscles and maintain movement. As the body is more supported in water children are often able to start hydrotherapy treatment much earlier and the heat and buoyancy of the water also makes hydrotherapy less painful than treatment on dry land. The pool is often a less threatening environment for children, they can relax, have fun and often they don't know that they are doing physiotherapy.

The following groups of children will greatly benefit from receiving hydrotherapy treatment at the Children's Hospital for Wales: Neurology patients (eg. head injuries, paediatric stroke), Neurosurgical patients (eg. removal of tumours, cerebral bleeds), Developmental delay patients (eg. downs syndrome, cerebral palsy), Orthopaedic patients (eg. spinal injury patients in rehab, multi-trauma), Oncology patients (eg. bone cancer, brain tumour) and Respiratory patients (eg. asthma).
